ConsultationWe are supportive of Environment Canada’s proposed direction that the 249 substances on the Domestic Substances List would not be subject to further risk assessment at this time given past and current risk assessment activities or risk management actions under the Chemical Management Plan. Consulting with stakeholders provides transparency and clarity of how the Department will be examining these substances which is positive. The comment has been noted. It should also be noted that the final approach now addresses 248 substances.  One substance, Chemical Abstracts Service (CAS) number 12014-14-1, was removed from this initiative and will be assessed as part of the Chemicals Management Plan.
Information gatheringShould Environment Canada pursue any future information gathering, risk assessment or risk management activities work on these 249 substances, it is important that stakeholders be consulted with, provided with adequate notice and time to complete any required information. The comment has been noted.  It should also be noted that the final approach now addresses 248 substances. One substance, CAS number 12014-14-1, was removed from this initiative and will be assessed as part of the Chemicals Management Plan.
