Toxic susbtances list: HBDC phase out

As part of its commitment to protecting the environment, the Government is working with the automotive sector through non-regulatory measures to phase-out the use of Hexabromocyclododecane (HBCD) in the auto industry.

In August 2016, the Government requested commitment letters from the Canadian automotive companies stating that they either no longer uses HBCD in new vehicles or intent to phase-out its use in new vehicles by Model Year 2020.

The following Canadian automotive companies submitted a letter confiming their commitment to phase-out HBCD by 2020:
