Benzidine and benzidine dihydrochloride
Benzidine has been used primarily as an intermediate in the manufacture of dyes and pigments. It is not produced in Canada, and although it may have been imported in small amounts between 1980 and 1987, there no longer appears to be any commercial activity in Canada involving this substance. However, there are limited essential applications of benzidine related to analytical procedures in the health care sector.
