Ethylene glycol

On December 1, 2007 a notice with respect to ethylene glycol was published in the Canada Gazette, part I.

The draft PSL2 assessment report for ethylene glycol will be released for the mandated 60-day public comment period. The report proposes to conclude that ethylene glycol is toxic and it is proposed to be recommended for addition to Schedule I of CEPA 1999. The public will have between December 2, 2007 and January 30, 2008 to submit written observations to the Minister of the Environment. Following that 60-day public comment period, the comments will be considered, and the report revised as necessary, including the final conclusion as to whether or not the substance is considered “toxic” under section 64 of the Canadian Environmental Protection Act, 1999 (CEPA 1999).
