Chief, Ecosystem Health Research

CURRENT S&T / RESEARCH - Contributing to Environment Canada’s mandate to ensure wildlife is conserved and protected

  • Examining the effects of in-use pesticides and environmental contaminants on amphibians
  • Investigating the occurrence and dynamics of emerging infectious diseases in Canadian amphibians
  • Examining molecular methods to examine the effects of contaminants on amphibians and to study the incidence and transmission of disease in these species
  • Examining the use of terrestrial wetland-associated bio-indicator species such as amphibians to assess the effects of global environmental change on biodiversity and ecosystem health
  • Investigation of sub-organismal effects of contaminant exposure (e.g., endocrine disruption) for assessments of species and ecosystem health
