CURRENT S&T / RESEARCH - As part of the Water Science and Technology Directorate the Division provides for the laboratory science needs of EC’s water research community, as well as monitoring, enforcement and emergencies programs. The Division’s team of scientific experts provide accredited, legally defensible science to enable sound decision-making and accountability through responsive, cost effective laboratory and technical services that meet international standards of quality. To ensure credible, legally defensible science to enable sound decision-making and accountability while aligning S&T efforts on a national single delivery basis to support and integrated, startegic approach to departmental priorities.
- Integration of laboratory and research support services across our national network
- Provide leadership, direction and support to Centre staff
- Facilitate innovation to meet emerging needs via integration of Chemistry and Toxicology
- Increase customer satisfaction and maintain CAEAL accreditation to ISO/IEC 17025
- Enhance recruitment and training opportunities as part of PS renewal and maintenance of Centre's capacity
- Participated on regulation development teams for the Fisheries Act and Canadian Environmental Protection Act (CEPA) regulatory monitoring requirements for pulp and paper mills, mining and municipal effluents and managed several research projects under the Toxic Substances Research Initiative and the Pesticides Science Fund.
PROFESSIONAL ACTIVITIES / INTERESTS
Responsable to provide delivery of laboratory science needs of EC research, monitoring, enforcement and emergency programs and to deliver quality management products and services through responsive, cost effective laboratory and technical services that meet international standards of quality.
Accountable for leading the innovative conceptualization of sophosticated and technical complex laboratory and research support services delivered to EC clients and externally.
Manages the provision of scientific and technical advice on environmental issues, including matters affecting enforcement of environmental laws, environmental quality and ecosystem health, in response to regional, national and international policy and regulatory initiatives, related to the Fisheries Act and Canadian Environmental Protection Act; Manages technology and aquatic test method development used in environmental legislation and regulations
