CURRENT S&T / RESEARCH - Contributing to the development of Federal Environmental Quality Guidelines for the Chemicals Management Plan and for Clean, Safe and Secure Water. They are recommended numerical or narrative limits for a variety of substances and environmental quality parameters, which, if exceeded, may impair the health of Canadian ecosystems.

  • Federal Environmental Quality Guidelines for Chemicals Management Plan (CMP) medium priorities (metals, organics) & target analytes
  • Advancement of Sediment Quality Guidelines and their use in regulatory and non-regulatory instruments including Chemicals Management Plan, Federal Contaminated Sites Action Plan, Disposal at Sea and Great Lakes Action Plan
  • Development of methods and protocols for the derivation of site-specific environmental quality guidelines that consider natural background, local water quality conditions, and resident species
