- Characterizing emissions from alternative, reformulated, and future fuels for light and heavy duty vehicles
- Characterizing the emissions and performance of vehicles utilizing fuel cells, electric, and diesel-electric hybrids, in both the light and heavy duty sectors
- Exhaust emission characterization of non-road sources such as utility engines, locomotives, marine vessels, and construction equipment
- Developing exhaust after-treatment technologies for heavy duty diesel vehicles both on and off-road
- Advance propulsion systems and emerging transportation systems
