Physical Scientist Research - Atmospheric Research

CURRENT S&T / RESEARCH - Main efforts include utilizing satellite remote sensing to further advance the monitoring and air quality modelling of the air we breathe. Also contribute to the research weather extremes for both the current and future climate in order to help Canadians interpret and adapt to changes in our climate.

Satellite remote sensing and radiative transfer knowledge for both climate and air quality research (e.g. ammonia, methanol, formic acid emissions). This includes being on international satellite Science Teams and involvement is recent projects such as the Canada-Alberta Oil Sands Environmental Monitoring project.

Provide expertise for several of Environment Canada's Climate Services climatic design products used for Canadian Codes and Standards. For example:

  • Rainfall Intensity-Duration-Frequency (IDF) Curves
  • Probable Maximum Precipitation (PMP)
  • Canadian High-Resolution Lightning Climatology
