CURRENT S&T / RESEARCH - Working to ensure that chemicals assessed under the Chemicals Management Plan (CMP) best reflect the global science of ecological risk assessment

  • Provide expert scientific opinion and direction related to the risk assessment of new and existing chemcials assessed under the Chemicals Management Plan
  • Coordination and integration of global bioaccumulation assessment science for new and existing substances assessed by Environment Canada
  • Provide expert advice on the application and interpretation of quantitative structure-activity relationship (QSAR) models and mass balance environmental fate models for the PBT/POPs assessment of substances under Canadian Environmental Protection Act
  • Develop and enhance the expertise of regulatory scientists within the Science and Risk Assessment Directorate (SRAD) through technical training
  • Act as a conduit between global expert groups (e.g., OECD, HESI, SETAC, ECETOC) and regulatory scientists within SRAD
