The final Tetrachloroethylene (Use in Dry Cleaning and Reporting Requirements) Regulations are a consolidation of the original Regulations and the Amendments finalized on September 30, 2011. The consolidated Regulations were passed into law on September 30, 2011. 2011 Amendments to the Regulations:

The Regulations Amending the Tetrachloroethylene (Use in Dry Cleaning and Reporting Requirements) Regulations (Miscellaneous Program) (SOR/2011-216) came into force on September 30, 2011. The proposed amendments were developed to align the English and French versions of the Regulations, to improve clarity of the regulatory text and to enhance ease of reporting. The Amendments do not make any subtantive changes to the Regulations.

2003 Parent Regulations:

The original Regulations, Tetrachloroethylene (Use in Dry Cleaning and Reporting Requirements) Regulations (SOR/2003-79), were passed into law on February 27, 2003. These Regulations are based on the key recommendations in the Strategic Options Report on stakeholder consultation.

Strategic Options Report: 

The Tetrachloroethylene (Use in Dry Cleaning and Reporting Requirements) Regulations are based on the key recommendations from the 1996 report of stakeholder consultations on the Strategic Options for the Management of Tetrachloroethylene in the dry-cleaning sector. This report can be obtained by contacting us.
