Environment and Climate Change Canada continues to offer a fully electronic permitting system to enable Canadian and International hunters to buy permits online and print them from home. The 2016 permits are also available for purchase at Canada Post outlets and through some independent vendors. If you have any questions with regards to the availability of the Migratory Game Bird Hunting Permits at a postal outlet, you can contact Canada Post customer service at 1-866-607-6301.

To hunt migratory game birds in Canada, you are required to possess a valid federal Migratory Game Bird Hunting Permit (or e-Permit) with an affixed (or printed image of a) Canadian Wildlife Habitat Conservation stamp. Please note that you must verify the provincial/territorial regulations pertaining to hunting and the carrying of firearms for the province/territory where you will be hunting migratory game birds. Hunters who also wish to receive a physical copy of the stamp by mail can do so by checking a box when purchasing their e-Permit. There is no additional charge for shipping the stamp. The physical stamp is not required to validate the e-Permit.

Revenues from the sale of the Canadian Wildlife Habitat Conservation stamp, which is affixed to the Migratory Game Bird Hunting Permit, are dedicated to conserving habitat. Philatelic products are available and can be purchased through Wildlife Habitat Canada. To date, over 1,500 conservation projects across Canada have been supported through the sale of the Canadian Wildlife Habitat Conservation stamp.
