Identification Guide to North American Birds

By Peter Pyle

Banders must accurately determine the species, age and sex of all birds they band. The Identification Guide to North American Birds is the standard reference currently recognized by the banding offices for the species it covers. The new Pyle guide replaces the existing keys in the North American Bird Banding Manual, volume II for all species that are included in the Manual. Thanks to Peter Pyle for working closely with both the U.S. and Canadian banding offices, and other banding experts, to ensure acceptance of this new guide as the North American standard reference for all species covered. We encourage banders to continue to expand our collective knowledge on ageing and sexing techniques by publishing new discoveries.
