This report responds to an international call to protect the marine environment through coordinated actions at local, regional, national and global levels. The report outlines the context of the NPA, the programme's methods, and national issues. Individual chapters then focus on four coastal regions of Canada: Pacific, Arctic, Southern Quebec/St. Lawrence, and Atlantic.
