ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS

The Greenhouse Gas Division of Environment Canada wishes to acknowledge the many individuals and organizations that contributed to the 2006 National Inventory Report. Although the list of all researchers, government employees, and consultants who provided technical support is too long to include here, Environment Canada's Greenhouse Gas Division would like to thank the authors and contributors as well as the reviewers whose work helped to improve this year's report.

Development of the overall report was directed by Frank Neitzert in concert with Pascale Collas and Afshin Matin. Frank Neitzert led the development of and authored the Executive Summary, Chapter 2 (Trends), Chapter 3 (Energy), and portions of Annex 10 (Industrial Sector Analysis), as well as contributing to Annex 1 (Key Categories) and Annex 4 (Comparison of Sectoral and Reference Approaches). Pascale Collas led the development of Chapter 6 (Agriculture), Chapter 7 (Land Use, Land-Use Change and Forestry, or LULUCF), and the corresponding sections of Annex 3 (Additional Methodologies) and authored Annex 6 (Quality Assurance and Quality Control). Afshin Matin managed the production of Chapter 4 (Industrial Processes), Chapter 5 (Solvents), Chapter 8 (Waste), and Chapter 9 (Recalculations and Improvements), as well as Annex 5 (Completeness) and Annex 7 (Uncertainty). Chia Ha together with Sara Ednie compiled the Common Reporting Format and summary tables for Annex 1 (Key Categories), Annex 8 (National Trends), Annex 9 (Electricity Intensity), and Annex 12 (Provincial/Territorial Emissions). Chia Ha also authored major portions of Chapter 2 (Trends), Chapter 3 (Energy), Annex 1 (Key Categories), Annex 4 (Comparison of Sectoral and Reference Approaches), and Annex 10 (Industrial Sector Analysis). Sara Ednie also developed Annex 9 (Electricity Intensity), Annex 13 (Emission Factors), and Annex 14 (Rounding Protocol). Kerry Rhoades managed the compilation of the National Inventory Report and authored Chapter 1 (Introduction). Scott McKibbon authored Annex 11 (Provincial/Territorial Analysis), with contributions from Rock Radovan. Scott McKibbon also authored portions of Chapter 2 (Trends) and Chapter 3 (Energy), with contributions from Pascal Bellavance, Ryan Gallant, and Rock Radovan. Chang Liang authored Chapter 6 (Agriculture) and Section A3.4 of Annex 3 (Methodology for Agriculture). Dominique Blain authored Chapter 7 (LULUCF) and the related methodological annex (Section A3.5 of Annex 3), to which Chang Liang, Ana Morales, Mark McGovern, and Evan Seed also contributed. Craig Palmer was the author of Chapter 8 (Waste) and the related methodological annex (Section A3.6 of Annex 3). He also performed quality control on portions of the Industrial Processes estimates and contributed to Chapter 2 (Trends). Alice Au provided significant assistance in the authoring of Chapter 4 (Industrial Processes), Chapter 5 (Solvents), and the methodological annex related to Industrial Processes (Section A3.2 of Annex 3) and performed quality control on one Waste Sector emission category. Ana Morales together with Savvas Farassoglou compiled LULUCF estimates and performed quality control on the Agriculture Sector and LULUCF Sector estimates. Renata Zaremba contributed to various sections and annexes related to the Industrial Processes Sector and to Chapter 9 (Recalculations and Improvements). Renata Zaremba also coordinated the quality control work on the key and non-key categories of the Industrial Processes and Waste sectors. Paula Critchley assisted in the authoring of Chapter 8 (Waste) and the related methodological annex (Section A3.6 of Annex 3) and in quality control on Industrial Processes Sector estimates. Michel Sirois made significant contributions to the authoring of Annex 7 (Uncertainty) and provided quality control checks on estimates related to the Industrial Processes Sector. Samantha Boardley provided invaluable support throughout the drafting and compilation of the National Inventory Report.

We would also like to acknowledge the efforts of our colleagues at Statistics Canada, Justin Lacroix and Gary Smalldridge, for their help in analyzing and interpreting Canada's energy supply and demand data. We are also grateful to our federal colleagues from the national LULUCF Monitoring, Accounting and Reporting System, who contributed estimates for the LULUCF and Agriculture sectors. In particular, we would like to thank Jim Wood, Werner Kurz, Thomas White, Don Leckie, Dennis Paradine, and Tony Lemprière of the Canadian Forest Service of Natural Resources Canada, Marie Boehm, Tim Martin, Brian McConkey, Murray Bentham, and Philippe Rochette of Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada, and Wenjun Chen of the Canadian Centre for Remote Sensing. Of the many people and organizations that provided support and information, we are especially indebted to the many individuals in various industries, industry associations, engineering consulting firms, and universities who provided engineering and scientific support.
