Aerosol Particle Size Distribution
- At Alert - A TSI 3010 Condensation Particle Counter (CPC) is used to measure the total number concentration of particles larger than about 10 nm to less than 1 µm in diameter. In late 2010, a TSI 3034 Scanning Mobility Particle Sizer (SMPS) is anticipated to be installed together with a Grimm optical particle counter. The combination will allow us to measure the size distributions of particles from about 15 nm to about 10 µm diameter.
- At Whistler - A TSI 3025 Ultrafine CPC is used to measure the total number concentration of particles larger than about 4 nm. A MSP M1000XP Wide Range Particle Spectrometer is used to measure the size distributions of particles from about 10 nm to 10 µm diameter.
- At Egbert - A TSI 3081 Electrostatic Classifier and a TSI 3010 CPC are used in SMPS combination to measure the size distributions of particles from about 15 nm to 450 nm. A TSI 3321 Aerodynamic Particle Sizer Spectrometer is used to measure the size distribution of particles from about 500 nm to 20 µm diameter.
and PSAP at Whistler.
