Multistakeholder Working Group on Road Salts

In Spring 2002, stakeholders were invited to participate in a working group to advise Environment Canada on the effective management of road salts.

The primary purpose of the Working Group is to review and comment on materials sent by Environment Canada, share information, transfer technology and ideas, and develop a common approach to addressing environmental issues related to the use of road salts in Canada.

Working group members represent a wide range of stakeholders, including federal, provincial, territorial and municipal governments, environmental organizations, insurance companies and the salt industry.

The Working Group also has corresponding members who do not attend meetings, but receive copies of the minutes and all documents for comment.

For more information on the purpose and scope of activities of the Working Group, consult the Terms of Reference. Information on meetings and reports reviewed by the Working Group can be found on this web site.
