The Canadian Pollution Prevention Information Clearinghouse

The Canadian Pollution Prevention Information Clearinghouse (CPPIC) is an Internet tool that links Canadians to the information on pollution prevention (P2). The CPPIC website is available to all Canadians, and is designed to strengthen Canada’s capacity to become a sustainable society.

CPPIC provides background information on pollution prevention with a Canadian focus. It explains pollution prevention, explores the benefits of P2 and provides examples of common P2 practices.

The database of over 1,200 pollution prevention reference materials includes fact sheets, case studies, guidelines, legislation, training manuals, websites and much more. The references cover more than 30 industrial sectors and service industries. In addition, CPPIC contains information on community projects and how to incorporate P2 into daily life.

Search the CPPIC Website

Enter keywords and/or combine selections from CPPIC’s convenient picklists on substances, subject, information type and more to link to the best resources to match the area of interest.

For even more specific picklists based on industry sectors, use the Sector Search. CPPIC’s Sector Search creates its search form based on the industry sector selected. By limiting the form to the chosen sector, it is easier to maximize a search.

Submit Information to CPPIC

The quick input form on the CPPIC website allows for supplying a pollution prevention reference that could help other CPPIC users.

Youth Component

The future of the environment depends largely on the actions and voices of young Canadians. All of us can help develop and pursue practical and sustainable solutions for the planet, and pollution prevention can help secure clean air and water, and fertile land.

Linking to the Youth page of the CPPIC site leads to tips about what youth can do at home and in school to promote pollution prevention. There are also games, activity books, calendars, artwork, stories and more.

Related Sites

There are many useful websites with information on P2 activities and environmental initiatives. CPPIC is a quick link to related sites within the government, as well as within nongovernment and international organizations.
