Gala for Youth Excellence in Climate Change - Ten Merit Scholarships to be Awarded by Environment Canada

MONTRÉAL, November 25, 2005 - Environment Canada will be awarding 10 merit scholarships at the Gala for Youth Excellence in Climate Change on Saturday, November 26. The event is being held in conjunction with the International Youth Summit taking place from November 24 to 28 at Environment Canada's Biosphère. The awards ceremony will be hosted by Darryl Kyte from the CBC TV series "Street Cents" and Karine Lanoie-Brien (K), who is well known for her efforts to encourage responsible consumption.

A side activity to the United Nations Conference on Climate Change, the Cambio contest - Cambio means change in Spanish and was chosen by Canadian youth - was intended to recognize the creativity and best practices of young Canadians in the area of climate change. Ten merit scholarships will be awarded to young people from across the country in the presence of Government of Canada representatives.
