Fleet Average NO_x Emission Performance of Light-Duty Vehicles, Light-Duty Trucks and Medium-Duty Passenger Vehicles

The On-Road Vehicle and Engine Emission Regulations came in effect on January 1, 2004 under CEPA 1999 to introduce more stringent emission standards for various classes of on-road vehicles; including fleet average NO_x emission standards for light-duty vehicles, light-duty trucks and medium-duty passenger vehicles.

The Regulations require that companies submit a report to the Minister of the Environment at the end of each model year containing specific information concerning the company's fleets and fleet average NO_x emission performance for the model year. The regulatory requirements, including those associated with fleet average NO_x emission, apply to the 2004 and later model year on-road vehicles.

The below reports include a summary of the regulatory requirements and of the fleet average NO_x emission performance of individual companies for a given model year based on the information provided by companies. The reports also provide a general analysis of the overall performance of the Canadian new light vehicle fleet for a given model year. Beginning with the 2005 model year, each report also provides a comparison with the overall performance of previous model years
