Next Steps for Advisory Group
Next 2 weeks:
- Advisory Group members to review text of Working Document for Consultation
- You are encouraged to contact Environment Canada staff if you have any questions
- We intend to distribute questions and responses (if not confidential) to all members
Early June (decide on date today):
- Two-day meeting to provide comments on text to Environment Canada staff
- Written comments in advance would be helpful
By end of June :
- Submit final written comments to Environment Canada
- Intent is to distribute these to all members
Steps after Advisory Group ends
- EC reviews comments from Advisory Group members
- Analysis, decisions, changes to concept text as needed
- EC prepares final drafting instructions and submits to Justice Canada
- Justice Canada drafts proposed regulations
- Minister of Environment submits regulatory package to Treasury Board for consideration for pre-publication
- Proposed regulations published for comment in Canada Gazette, Part I (December)
- 60-day comment period
- EC reviews comments
- Analysis, decisions, changes to proposed regulations as needed
- Minister of Environment submits regulatory package to Treasury Board for consideration for final publication
- Final regulations published in Canada Gazette, Part II (June 2010)
