Step 14: Inspection is Conducted
Canadian Environmental Protection Act, 1999 (CEPA 1999) Enforcement Officer may inspect disposal operations.
Action that initiates step
The Permit Holder is conducting disposal operations.
EC roles and responsibilities
Within the term of the permit, a CEPA 1999 Enforcement Officer inspects the sites to ensure that the loading and disposal operations are being carried out in accordance with the conditions.
If the Minister deems it necessary he/she may suspend, revoke or vary the permit as required.
Other parties’ roles & responsibilities
To follow all conditions as per the Permit, EC may have joint inspections with other agencies such as DFO.

Component Activities
This Step consists of the following activity:
- A CEPA 1999 Enforcement Officer inspects the disposal operation to ensure that the conditions of the Permit have been followed.

The operation is inspected and assessed for compliance and any needed follow up action is taken.
Step 15: End of the Permit or Completion of the Operations
Permit holder supplies documentation required by permit conditions, for example end date of disposal activity.
Action that initiates step
The Permit has expired or the operations have been completed, whichever comes first.

The role of EC is to accept and review any relevant documentation.
