An image taken by RADARSAT-2 on October 1, 2011 of the M'Clintock Channel. October 1st is "Ice Birthday". Sea ice which has survived through the summer melt becomes second year and multi-year ice. The image highlights new and grey ice located between Victoria Island and Prince of Wales Island, Nunavut, as well as old ice, second-year ice and multi-year ice off the coast of Victoria Island.
