Greenhouse Gas Verification Guidance

Both greenhouse gas inventories and projects can be verified. Typically, verification activities include a review of the greenhouse gas information system and its controls, collection of evidence through record gathering, interviews and site visits, and evaluation and testing of data and processes (data streams, documentation, quantification models etc.) used by the reporter. This process will establish a trail of evidence that can be used to support and confirm that the reporter’s assertions about their greenhouse gas emissions or removals are true and accurate within a specified degree of certainty.
