Environment Canada has teamed with the United States Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) WaterSense program to help consumers save water for future generations and reduce costs on their utility bills.  By signing a promotional partnership agreement with the EPA on their WaterSense program in January 2011, Environment Canada has committed to sharing information about the program and promoting WaterSense in Canada.

Look for WaterSense: promotional labelWaterSense is a labelling program that aims to decrease indoor and outdoor water use through water efficient products and simple water-saving practices.  Canadians can look for the WaterSense label to find products which have been independently certified by a third-party licensed body to save water without sacrificing performance or quality.  WaterSense labelled products must meet strict criteria for efficiency and performance.  The label makes it easy for consumers to identify and select a variety of quality, water-efficient products for use in and around their homes.

The partnership agreement between Environment Canada and the EPA, opens the door for provinces, territories and other organizations in Canada to establish their own partnership agreement with the EPA; thus allowing further the promotion of WaterSense in Canada.

Visit the WaterSense website to learn more about becoming a promotional or retailer partner.  Review the eligibility information, complete the forms, and follow the directions to submit the agreement to WaterSense.
