Appendix 4: FSDS Logic Model

The Logic Model is the basis for identifying results, progress and performance on meeting the requirements of the Federal Sustainable Development Act as they pertain to the Federal Sustainable Development Strategy. It identifies the linkages between the activities and outputs of the Federal Sustainable Development Strategy and the achievement of its immediate, intermediate and ultimate outcomes. It develops a chain of results connecting activities to the final outcomes while identifying the steps that will demonstrate progress toward their achievement. The Logic Model has been designed to highlight four key result areas based on the requirements of the Act. These include: Developing and reporting on the FSDS (green); Measuring performance (blue); Departmental Sustainable Development Strategies (RPP and DPR) (grey); and Putting sustainable development into practice (red).
