Clean Air Day is a focal point for information and action on clean air and climate change issues. The Government of Canada proclaimed Clean Air Day in 1999 in response to requests from community-based environmental, health and transportation groups, and activities nation-wide continue to emphasize a grassroots, community-based approach. Clean Air Day is held each year in early June on the Wednesday of Canadian Environment Week.
Across Canada, many non-government organizations and community groups promote Clean Air Day, and on their web site, www.cleanairday.com, you’ll find suggestions for activities, tips and tools to help reduce air pollutants and much more. Remember, Clean Air Day belongs to all of us – so join in, take action and celebrate – every bit counts!
