Nature has created a vast array of wild, unspoiled spaces whose richness and beauty are stunning. Human activity in the form of agriculture, urbanization, industry, and beliefs has created landscapes of cultural importance. Priceless in themselves, they are also primary indicators of the ways in which our environment is undergoing change. Landscapes are an integral part of our heritage, and we must protect them.
