Saskatchewan Rancher fined for polluting Brightsand Lake

Lloydminster, Saskatchewan – On October 14, 2009, a Livelong, Saskatchewan area cattle rancher was ordered to pay a $100.00 fine and to make a $3,400.00 restitution to the Environmental Damages Fund after pleading guilty to one count under the Fisheries Act for failure to comply with an Inspector’s Direction.

An investigation began in April 2007 following complaints that were referred to Environment Canada. Prior to the launch of the investigation, Mr. Bodnar had received an Inspector’s Direction to secure alternate water arrangements for his cattle and clean up the site.
