Regina Dry Cleaner Owner Required To Pay $6900 For Environmental Offences

REGINA, SK --  Mr. Darcy Dobrescu, owner and operator of 1 Hour Martinizing in Regina, Saskatchewan, was ordered to pay $1,900 in fines and contribute a total of $5,000 to the Environmental Damages Fund after pleading guilty to charges laid under theCanadian Environmental Protection Act, 1999 for fiveviolations of the Tetrachloroethylene (Use in Dry Cleaning and Reporting Requirements) Regulations.

The violations occurred between March 2007 and April 2008, and included improper storage of tetrachloroethylene, waste water and residue, and failure to keep or submit records and reports. 

Mr. Dobrescu pleaded guilty to these charges on July 28, 2009 in Provincial Court in Regina, Saskatchewan.
