Bis(2-ethylhexyl) phthalate [also known as di(2-ethylhexyl) phthalate or DEHP], a branched-chain dioctyl ester of phthalic acid, is the most important phthalate plasticizer used in Canada. Although quantitative data are very limited, bis(2-ethylhexyl) phthalate is released into the Canadian environment as a result of its manufacture and its industrial uses.
